A Little About Me

        My name is Hernán Cortés and I am a proud "MexiRican", as I call it.  I really don't want to say too much in the hopes that I would not want to bore, but I was born in Chicago in 1968 and am a Scorpio.  We lived in Texas when I was age 1 to the age of 5.  Well, actually, two days before I reached the age of 5.  We celebrated my birthday when we returned to Chicago on November 7, 1972.

        I attended UIC and DeVry and now I am happily married to my beautiful wife Connie and have 2 wonderful boys, (Hernán Adrian & Alejandro "Alex" Dionisio).  We currently live in Melrose Park, IL, which is on the border of Chicago.

        I have been interested in Lightning all my life and on July 2, 1992, I was given the gift of The Strike, from above, but sat on it for 7 years.  Now since 1/25/99, I'm glad that I am sharing it with you all to view and study.

        One time while playing golf, my father and I were literally stuck in what seemed to be a tornado, but thank God we survived, by holding a tree and each other until it passed.   I really thought "this is it, say your prayers, you're done with".  My father yelled, "BRACE YOURSELF AROUND THE TREE AND HOLD MY HANDS" and I knew exactly what he wanted to do, NOT LET GO OF ME.  It blew over just as fast as it came in and the whole incident lasted only about 10 minutes, but felt like FOREVER.

        I'm a computer technician/analyst/troubleshooter and I enjoy the web, especially my new found "stormchasing" hobby and friends.  I am also very interested and well read into the paranormal, ufology and just about anything that is unexplained, including Biblical scriptures and books.

        I am a Family Tree Enthusiast and have a Family tree site listed in my links page and I have a serious Michael Jordan collection and hope to get that onto the net too, but am waiting for people to get Michael-itis before I begin to sell the thousands of collector cards I have in my safety deposit box.

        Among being a member of various organizations, I am precinct captain of our 9th precinct in Melrose Park, IL and communications director for our Watershed committee, but my most time consuming is our Silver Creek Homes Association.  As president of this hard working community association, I see a united group of 300+ residents who are always striving for the betterment of our tiny community..

        Hope this gives you a basic idea of who I am.  Later I will add more.
